Live N’ Local with Chris Whittaker

Chris Whittaker’s musical language of classical, jazz, pop, and gospel music melds genres and brings people together. He started playing piano by ear and writing songs when he was around 6 years old which began a journey that eventually led him to study composition at the Peabody Institute the John Hopkins University, then on getting his masters in conducting at the University of Michigan. In 2015, he co-founded the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra, a non-profit performing arts organization committed to engaging the community through free concerts and educational programming. In addition, he also serves as Music Director for Fort Washington Collegiate Church in Upper Manhattan and leads Marble Collegiate Church’s Jazz Vespers service.  You can keep up with Chris’ work at www.chriswhittakermusic.com.
